Description

I had a lot of ideas for my pictures back in december, but i just started drawing back then and couldn't put any of those ideas on paper. Now when i'm slowly improving i decided to challenge myself with much more complicated background. I know i have a lot of problems with drawing stones, so i decided to go stone-crazy here (can you count all of the stones?)
I also wanted to improve on drawing waterfalls. Originally i wanted to add some blue to the water, but it looked horrible and i decided to let water look more transparent here. I think it looks more realistic this way. When i had all those stones and waterfall the background still felt unfinished. I decided to think logically and came to the conclusion that i can draw some water going sideways from the waterfall.
I even added moss to lower stones. Actually it was not meant to be moss...I tried drawing some bushes, but they looked awfull, so i had to erase them and draw those moss covered stones.
After that i went to shading the characters, but got dragged back into detailing the background (NOOOO, i'm a BG addict! lol). It still felt empty, even with all those stones (did you count them yet?), so i had no idea what i might add. I decided to take a break and think, but i couldnt find anything. At times like these i just take a brush with some random color and draw lines randomly, hoping that it would form something. Well i drew some red lines, added some round dots around them, and then the form of those flying things came to me, i drew them In all the different positions i could imagine and i ended up with way too many of them in the background, so i decided to leave those 3 as they seemed most suitable for me. After that i thought i should change the color (Red glowing things are evil!). And you know what, i think NONE of the existing colors suit them...i just cant explain why, but i tried all the colors and had to stop on blue, as it illuminates the background and characters the best than all the other colors that i've tried (i was so idiotic that i even tried half-transparent white...).
So i spent 4 days on the background, while i usually spend no more than 1...
And i really like how it turned out, i guess that's my best BG in terms of quality.
I'm not gonna say much about shading, as it's nothing much of a difference from my other drawings, just darker, cause it's night on the background (your dear Captain is sure on the lookout for some Obvious things to say).

You know what i hated while i drew this picture? My mom's laptop. That's right: my pc is dead as you might know, so i had to draw this picture using my mom's laptop. And it's such a pain in the ass! This laptop is so slow, it can barely zoom this picture in (takes from 5 to 15 seconds to zoom in PS). This laptop is so bad that it barely plays games from 1998! And the sticker says: "Designed for Windows XP. Windows Vista Capable". Yeah, right, Windows Vista capable my ass! I had to reinstall the driver for the tablet after each reboot of the laptop. Man, i'm so angry at my PC for dying and this laptop for being so slow and buggy.

Ok, enough bitching about stuff.
Holy crap, you're still reading this? Don't you have better things to do? Drinking a cup of tea will take the same time as reading through all of the stuff you see infront of you right now...

My longest artistic comment! Yay!
*Jumps out of the window*

As usual, comments/critiques are welcome, but please leave them here before you leave, cause i'm interested in your opinion!

Fullview/Download to see all the details.

Alright, I can already hear the cracking sound in my fingers...typing so much text is sure an endurance event for them =)

So yeah, tell me what do you think of this, and dont forget to count the stones!

Ah! Finally you uploaded it! xD I was so curious <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/x/x…" width="15" height="15" alt=":XD:" title="XD"/>
All I can say is that all the work and time you put into it was totally worth it! The amount of detail is just right and I love how you did the sky. The moon especially. Even though it looks a bit too silver, it's still awesome. Those glowy spheres were such a great touch and adding their light to the characters was a fantastic idea.
I would've made that water a bit shinier, but that's just me being a dummy for shiny/sparkly stuff. Speaking of which, I LOVE that falling star in the background! It looks wonderful <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/h/h…" width="15" height="13" alt="" title="Heart"/>
Everything looks like you put a lot of effort into them, but one thing that bugs me is that big cloud. I don't know why tho...
I'd also add a little light on the rocks, since the moon is full and shining so brightly.
Next thing I'd mention is the shading on Spyro's wings. I love how they don't look like they're made of plastic bags <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/x/x…" width="15" height="15" alt=":XD:" title="XD"/>
What I like most about this picture is the expressions. They look so loving <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/h/h…" width="15" height="13" alt="" title="Heart"/> I love that protective look in Spyro's eyes <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/l/l…" width="26" height="17" alt="" title="Love"/>
So in conclusion, this is a very beautiful picture and has a peaceful atmosphere. Great job <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title=":) (Smile)"/>
